What type of software/equipment would I need to create t-shirt designs?

I am interested in making my own t shirts and would like to know if anyone could tell me what kind of software or equipment I could use to design artwork for a t shirt. I draw a lot of my designs by hand and also wanted to know if there is a way to scan my designs and edit them on the computer? Thanks for your answers!

You can use any program that creates a graphic that can be printed. There is special inkjet printer paper that you print on , then iron it onto the t-shirt. You can use anything you have – paint, MS Word, Photoshop. etc. There is an excellent open source (free) program called The Gimp that is as good as Photoshop.
