What are laws regarding copyrights of using characters in shirt designs?
Like cartoon characters.
For example: Pikachu from Pokemon or Mario.
Could I get in trouble if I use a character in a t-shirt design if I’m not doing a copy and paste? If I drew the character myself into a design to print, etc. I know the Christian line Kerusso does it with logos but I’m not sure if this is different, or even if they work out special deals.
Thanks!
You are breaking a law
Never the less, no one will bother you unless your making millions off the shirt (hopefully at that point you will have enough cash to buy the licencing rights lol) look man people do it all the time some get busted most don’t

You’d be breaking copyright laws.
However, you can apply to the copyright owners for a license to use the characters. The license cost varies, depending on how much the owners want to protect their intellectual property.
