Is it illegal to sell t-shirt transfers of trademarked designs?

There’s some guy on ebay selling designs on t-shirt transfers for like $5. They are designs of like video games like a resident evil picture that is clearly from the box minus the words. Is that legal or would it be like copyrighted or something? I was wondering because I had once wanted to sell those but figured it was illegal.
Also, do you know if it’s illegal to draw a picture of a trademarked design and sell it?

It is illegal if you do not have express permission to do so. You can obtain licensing rights to reproduce logos, covers, etc., but it can be very expensive.

Yes that is illegal. Ebay is suppose to have a policy of stuff like that but doesn’t enforce it. But then again you can buy stuff like that in retail stores also. It’s a sticky situation.

its completely illegal, its also illegal to draw an exact copy of a trademarked design in order to sell it. you can slightly mutate the design if its for art, the way andy warhol did with the campbell soup designs. if you want to sell tshirts you should check out http://www.cafepress.com/tomthefool
