I need a logo for this tee shirt design thing and I really really want to do the "So You Think You Can Dance" logo, the one like this http://www.stompmanagement.com/stompschool/user_images/SO_YOU_THINK_YOU_CAN_DANCE.jpg, and i want it the same except for instead of "So You Think You Can Dance" i want it to say "Flapco Thinks They Can Dance". Please! if you could do it and make it look good that would be great!!

How do I make a transparent background (which will be whatever the particular color of the shirt is) for the artwork? I’m a beginner. Thanks

is your background white? if that’s the case, don’t worry about it. Remember, printers don’t print white unless you specify it. And home printers (inkjet/laser) dont print white period.
But if youre asking something else, then specify the question

i am talking about protecting the design that you come up with or logo. sorry about the confusion.

Make sure that you always wash it inside out. I don’t know about any online reputable companies though.

I had to make T-Shirts for my mom’s company a couple of months ago, so I used their logo, their slogan and their website.

The logo in the middle, as big as possible.
The slogan in a nice, noticeable font right below the logo.
Website a little lower and on the back.

If your dad’s company doesn’t have a logo or a slogan, then this could be a good time to make them a logo and a slogan.

If you don’t have a website, then put the phone number there instead of the website.

Ok So Im really into photoshop and design, and I would like to make some tee shirts for my friend who is trying to become a DJ and does mixes, I have a mock up album cover done and an Idea for a very simple tee shirt on the way. I would like to design over the entire shirt for the album cover art, and only the front for the other. I find all the programs Ive use very primitive and ineffective. Such as black colors not matching, low customization, and inability to do what I want. Basically they suck, Help would be greatly appreciated!!
BTW I have the designs ready and everything its just that "Make your own Tee Shirts" websites im using are not working, such as the black, I tried have it empty as a PSD file but it just put white behind it (not what I want)
I need to be able to have the image be alone? As in no background like a cut out shape, JPG doesnt let me do that, and thats all that works with the sites

you want png or eps , pdf file format, those with transparency on,
also requires the printer paper to be transparent, if, white, then you would have to cut around edges,

Hi, I was hoping that someone could point me in the direction of a great informational website for designing your own tee shirts… I am not looking for sites that pertain to transferring etc onto tees.. Im speaking of the actual tee shirt itself.. And if it was a site for eco friendly tees that would be even better.. Or if theyre any designers out there that wouldnt mind contacting me and answering questions Id be very grateful.. Thank You!

if yu mean creating a design to put on t-shirts, the easiest way is through the cafepress. you just create your design, upload it, create a sorefront, and place your order. the cool thing is that anybody can order a shirt from you, if you want, and you can actually make money from it.

i want to get into making my own tee shirts. i just started so i know almost nothing. whats a good free software where i can make animation designs from scratch and print them onto transfer paper to iron on? bc i rly want a good sftware to be able to make designs custom to print out? and if i drew somthing can i scan it into my comp and print that out onto the tee shirt? thanks.

A bit more reading up is required – at least until you see that animations cannot be put on tees yet.

Basic directions come with the transfer paper. I like Corel Draw for the design part although you can use something as simple as Paint for transfers. Silk screen is a bit more complicated.

Depending on how far you’d like to compromise, you can go for any of the hundreds of thousands of amateur designers on the web – or you can seek out pros who understand BRANDING (which is really at the root of graphic design). Have a look at this article: http://logographicdesignservice.com/articles/what-does-graphic-design-do/ and then decide what kind of a designer you’re looking for.

Once you know that, assuming that you don’t want to settle for any old thing someone slaps together, seek out top designers such as Studio54 or others, and then compare their rates and work samples.

My environmental club needs a new tee shirt design. Our motto is "hike, bike, trolley or bus on fridays." What images and things would you put on it?

I’m thinking about starting to design t-shirts. I do all the designs in Adobe Photoshop. If I downloaded fonts from Dafont.com and used them on a t-shirt design, not a company logo, is that considered commercial use.

Also, if a font says free, not free for personal use, is it free for commercial use as well?

It seems to me that this would be a commercial use because it is development of something you will sell. You are creating a product. Likewise, there could be clauses and restrictions in their terms of service that prohibit free things for commercial use.
The best and safest way is to simply ask them forthrightly and get the answer. If they say OK save the e-mail forever.
