What software can i use to create and print my own shirt design?

For now i am using microsoft word and microsoft paint. I’m looking for a software that i can draw or design much better than microsoft.. then print it out in the printer so i can iron it to shirts..

GIMP is a free Imaging software. You can create/edit your images/designs in it.

The major part is PRINTER THAT CAN PRINT ON YOUR SHIRT. If you have it you can print any design on your shirts!

Will I get in trouble for using an unregistered trademark as my shirt design?

I want to use the ZOOM logo (the 1990’s version of the PBS show) on a shirt. It’s designed like theirs are in the show (orange with logo on front). I’m only printing 3 shirts form an online website.

It is trademark infringement.

I’m fourteen and looking into working for Hot Topic part time vut I was wondering if they had a job that included being able to design t-shirt graphics. Anyone know if they do and what its callednso I can ask for the job? Or am I just too young for that?

No, you’d have to work for the corporate office, and it definitely wouldn’t be part-time. And you’d most likely have to be over 18. You could always try to design t-shirts for Threadless or something, I know they let regular people design t-shirts, but the community has to vote on them before they start selling the design.

A few things going on here.

First, understand that you can copyright or trademark the design — as in the image — but not the T-shirt with the design. Shirts are not copyrightable; 2-D images are.

Second, while you automatically own the copyright to any copyright-eligible works that you create, the only legal proof of this copyright (the only way to sue someone for infringement) is to register your image with the US Copyright Office. This costs $35.

(Some people advocate the "poor man’s copyright" — the practice of mailing your own work to yourself and leaving the seal intact — this is NOT legal proof of copyright ownership. Any lawyer is going to mention the possibility of you mailing yourself an empty envelope and packaging it after the fact and blow a hole right through your claim.)

As far as trademarking, that’s a little more expensive. A registered trademark costs $275-$375. You can also look into unregistered trademarks, but you’ll need to get your brand out there a little more to qualify for any protection — you have to be reasonably known as the user of the trademark.

How do I repair tears or ‘cracks’ on a T-shirt design?

A friend bought me a T-shirt that had a design on it that was in white. After just 1 wash/dry a few ‘cracks’ started showing up on the face of the design making the color of the actual shirt visible. Could I just use a sort of paint to cover those areas up?

I am in charge of coming up with a t-shirt design for a state-wide leadership conference. I have to incorporate the logo and name and all the basic stuff, but our theme is "We Weren’t Born to Follow." Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do themewise on the shirt? Thanks!

Take the shape of a figure with one arm outstretched onto the shoulder of a figure in front and make a line of these figures across the front of the shirt.

Like the image of the blind leading the blind. But of course – do not use images demeaning blind people.

What does the ‘base color’ of a t-shirt design mean?

This may sound a little noobish but I have little knowledge about designing a tshirt so I have no idea what base color means. Is it the color of the shirt? Or maybe color of the design?

What does it mean when it says " The design must be on a white and grey base." ?
