Now I want to start designing t-shirts on the computer and somehow put them on a t-shirt.
Also, I’m a 16yr Old male And I don’t have a Job, So what are some good ways to finance this?

I would get Adobe in design and use the pen tool to trace your designs to turn them into vector images. you can use the auto tool but the pen tool i think is more accurate. just scan your design into a computer as a jpeg and upload it to the computer. if the designs are too detailed for vector work a jpeg will be fine if the original scan is large enough to be printed without getting pixelated.
in design can be expensive depending how you buy it. adobe offers student and teacher discounts that are huge discounts. and there is a 30 day free trial. there are also ways to pirate it but i would not recommend this. you can get viruses or go to jail. plus its a good enough program that adobe deserves to get paid for it.
photoshop is also a great tool to use to design. you can make jpeg images. you can edit text… do just about anything you can think of to an image. this may be the path you want to go. CS5 has a new paint mode that is un beatable if you know what your doing. both of these programs are free for 30 days from adobe for you to try out.
you do need money to actually put the designs on a t shirt. the cheapest and by far the crappiest way to do this is to go to an office supply or paper store, and get iron on printer paper. its called transfer paper or t shirt transfer paper. you print out the image on an ink jet printer and iron it on a t shirt.
this you are left with buying the t shirt and buying the transfer paper. also keep in mind that you need different types of transfer paper depending on the shirt. and it will look like a glossy square with your logo on it and it will fade and crack after washing a couple times.
the method i use is to get someone to do my printing for me. its not expensive and they worry about the shirts and the printing and all you do is pay them and make the designs.
i made t-shirts $9 a piece but i ordered a lot at a time usual price is like 15 – 20. there sometimes is a one time fee for them digitizing the artwork. i dont know what this means and i think its just a way to get more money for them, this fee can be pricey but if you plan on selling your shirts its just another expense. where i go digitizing is $100. i have seen it $50 i have seen it $500. there are a few places i came across that dont charge this but the quality also isnt as good. and the turn around isnt as fast. Digitizing is a one time fee once you submit your artwork most places keep it on file and you just order the shirts then.

if you want to know the way i got all my start up cash to start my business this is it.

i had a huge yard sale. i sold all of my stuff that i didnt need anymore. guitars my drum set old stereo stuff. take electronic things and jewlery to a pawn shop and take all the clothes you dont need to platos closet. (its a consignment shop for clothing.) i raised $800 total in a couple of weeks just selling all of my crap. you probably wont need this much. i would say to start out you will absolutely need a safe 250 maybe less. you can get this in a weekend selling your shirts at a local popular park. one with open walking trails and picnic areas are good. places with a ton of foot traffic.
this will be 150 for the designing (the printing of the shirts plus the digitizing cost.) this will get you 4 shirts to wear or sell.

and it will leave $100 for marketing and sales supplies (hangers or display items.) what i would do is get a grated siding or a couple cheap 1/2" boards and make them stand like display racks. put hooks in them to hang hangers with your shirts so people can see them displayed to sell. make price tags on the hangers with masking tape and sharpies

Remember selling will be slow at first if you dont have the capitol for start up costs. selling different shirts in one size may not be as good as selling your 2 best designs with 3 sizes each, if your buying shirts for 16 a piece selling them at 18 may still not give you any profit. think about all your costs. food while your out the gas to get there the cost of the price tag. everything counts as an expense.

i found out it that if i was going to sell art in a park it will cost me $7 a day. if you buy shirts for 9 a piece and start selling them at 12 and sold about 2 shirts a day you wont make anything. if you sell them at 16 though you will break even for the day selling one shirt.

final piece of advice is to sell more than just shirts. if your really into your clothing designing that is fine. sell bags purses hoodies jackets and baseball caps too. most clothing printing places have all of these and more to provide to you at a low cost. of course hoodies and jackets are going to be a bit more than a t shirt but bags sell well and they usually are very cheap.

An example of Long shots would be racing horses at a race track and a long shot would be a horse that could win but,not expected to win. He is called a long shot. Do a drawing of a bunch of race horses all together and one horse lingering way behind he would be a long shot.

You can create a design on the computer or scan something that you drew. You’ll need to purchase some blank clothing like the ones from www.wholesaleblankclothes.com. You can print or embroider your designs onto these t-shirts at any store that offers these services. Hope this helps!
