What if I start a T-shirt Bussiness?
T-shirt Business?
Im a single 20 year old mom of a one year old. curently Im not working, After taking a year off of highschool ( I had a difficult pregnancy) I am finally graduateing in june. I start college in July im majoring in fashion design. I have a passion for designing things. I love to add things to my shirts and jeans to make them pop. I need a way to make money because I will be going to school full time. I know designing shirts is something I can do And people will buy. Me and my friends buy graphic Tees all the time. But how do I go about starting it? Where will I sell at? How much of an investment would I need? Is it possible to get a small business grant, If so how? What sort of advertisment would I need?
I live in Detroit mi?
maybe before you start trying to get a loan try making some shirts and if your town has a local fair see how well they do there and also make a few and see if any local stores will carry them for a small profit, b/c they will wnat a little something. I don’t mean a popular store like old navy but maybe a mom and pop clothing store to start.
How do I fix my t-shirt design?
I sent my design to get a screen made and I got this e-mail back…
Hi Wes,
We received your artwork but all the designs were sent at 72 dpi which is designer pricing. We need art to be at least 300 dpi. A jpeg is always designer pricing also. Multiple colors need to be vectorized so we can color separate it.
Thanks for contacting Ace
Can someone tell me how to fix my design? *NOTE* I only have Photoshop CS2
THANKS!

I need a t-shirt design??
I’m on student council and we all have to make a t-shirt design with something that has to do with the class of 2011. our mascot is the eagles. our school is cchs. the color of the t-shirt can either be orange, lime green, white, or brown. It doesn’t have to include them all though. I need a design by tomorrow at 5:30. No one had an idea but the only idea that i did have is a picture of an eagle on the front with his mouth open, trying to eat something off the back of the shirt, then on the back have class of 2011, but the 1’s are worms. If anybody has any more ideas or anything it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks soo much!!!
your idea sounds awesome! something different
Any T-Shirt design sites that don’t make you order a minimum of six?
I’m trying to make an Above the Influence hoodie, but whenever I finish it says you must order at least six. I don’t want six.
Anyone know any other websites?

Does this sound like a good shirt design?
I am doing a fundraiser for the arthritis foundation and I want to know if this is a good shirt for me to make to wear at the event.
I may have arthritis but arthritis doesn’t have me
Sounds encouraging, good for an arthritis foundation I’d say. I like it. it reminds me of those commercials that are like " Don’t let (xxxxx) control your life! Use (yyyyyy)!" But a bit better, so yeah
What is a creative T shirt design/Slogan for an Environmental Club? (mainly we recycle)?
Hey I could totally use some advice on a T shirt for our Environmental Club… Whatever we use for our T shirt we will have a similar cup design that we can give out to kids at our school to make them more aware, and saving plastic bottles at the same time :p
This idea may seem long but if it is put together right all the info will fit. Some parts of the print can be different..smaller or bigger, and you can scatter the info about in all different colors.
Black t-shirt with a pic of the earth on the front & the recycle symbol behind it.On the back ( in many different colors) it will tell about plastic as well as other things that you can recycle, along with how to recycle as well as fun facts. Here is what i think should go on the back at the top:
Plastic …What Does It all mean?
On the bottom of a plastic container is a triangle made out of arrows with a number inside of it, each number is a code and stands for one of 7different kinds of plastic, each is used to make different items.(be sure to put a triangle around the # so they know what to look for)
Plastic #1-Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE): 2 liter soda bottles, cooking oil bottles, peanut butter jars.
Plastic #2-High Density Polyethylene (HDPE): detergent bottles, milk jugs.
Plastic #3-Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC): plastic pipes, outdoor furniture, shrink wrap, water bottles, bags, salad dressing and liquid detergent containers.
Plastic #4-Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE):dry cleaning bags, produce bags, trash can liners, food storage containers. Most grocery stores accept HDPE (#2) and LDPE (#4) plastic bags for recycling.
Plastic #5-Polypropylene (PP):bottle caps, drinking straws. Recycling centers almost never take #5 plastic.
Plastic #6: Polystyrene (PS):packaging pellets or "Styrofoam peanuts," cups, plastic tableware, to-go containers. Many shipping/packaging stores will accept polystyrene peanuts and other packaging materials for reuse.
Plastic #7-Other:certain kinds of food containers and Tupperware. This plastic category, as its name of "other" implies, is any plastic other than the named #1-#6 plastic types. These containers can be any of the several different types of plastic polymers. Recycling centers cannot recycle plastic #7. Look for alternatives.
PETE is the most commonly recycled household plastic.

4-take bags back to the store.

Did you know it takes fourteen 20 oz. PETE bottles to make enough fiber for an XL T-shirt.
Fourteen 20 oz.PETE bottles to make 1 square-foot of carpet.
Sixty-three 20 oz.PETE bottles make a sweater.
Fourteen 20 oz.PETE bottles yield enough fiberfill for a ski jacket.
Eighty-five 20 oz.PETE bottles yield enough fiberfill for a sleeping
bag

Not all plastic can be recycled. The two most recyclable categories are numbers 1- PETE & 2- HDPE.

Upwards of 8 billion polystyrene and polycarbonate hangers clog our landfills every year. How many is 8 billion hangers? It’s enough to fill the Empire State building from basement to observation deck — 4.6 times! It is estimated that it would take from 800-1000 years for these plastics to break down in anaerobic landfills, and possibly longer. That’s 40 generations necessary to break down these plastics.

Did you know?
* Americans throw away 2 million plastic bottles every 10 minutes.
* Plastic bottles take hundred or thousands of years to begin biodegrading.
* 150 billion plastic beverage bottles are produced each year. Recycling a ton of plastic bottles can save about 3.8 barrels of oil.
* 70-80% of plastic bottles are not recycled.
* 100 billion plastic bottles end up in landfills, roadsides, streams or oceans.
* The average American consumes 167 bottles of water a year.
* Bottled water is the second most popular beverage in the United States.
* A majority of containers today are made from plastic.

Plastic isn’t the only thing you can recycle.
Recycling a single aluminum can can save enough energy to power a television for three hours.
A used aluminum can is recycled and back on the grocery shelf as a new can, in about 60 days.
Recycling a three foot high stack of newspaper saves one tree.
Water pollution related to glass production can be cut by half when using recycled materials.

Here are just a few more things that can be recycled:

help with making shirt design?
At my school we have this thing called the "AVID program."
The AVID students are required to make a shirt design.Whoever has the best one gets their design picked to be put on the shirt.
here is the site (look at the icon at the top!) > www.AVIDonline.org
Any suggestions?i cant decide on what to make the design!
I would like to help but I need more information… When thinking about designs, you have to consider who will use the design. What is the purpose of the design (what message should it convey). What are the limitations (colors, cost, materials, etc. And what type of audience will the design be presented to.
There are so many ways you can present that logo… but the best design depends on the factors mentioned above.
If you edit your question with those details included I’m sure you will get some really good proposals.
Who buys t-shirt design ideas?
I think i thought of a cool t-shirt idea and i havent seen it any where else and i wanna sell it to a company. If that is at all possible. What do ya think anyone know of how to do this?
I don’t know how to do it, but I have an idea also…let me know if you find out…..thanks
Animal Crossing:WW, can you buy clothes you design at the able sisters shop?
I just designed a shirt with the Able sisters but I can’t seem to buy it. Can someone tell me how I can get my hands on the shirt I just designed? I would love step-by-step instructions but any help is appreciated
You can’t buy it. If you open the menu it will be under your Pencil files. Go there and drag your design to the picture of a shirt. That is how you wear it. Other people in your town can by your design if you display it in the ABle’s Sister’s shop. The 8 designs in the centre of the store is where they are displayed. click on one of the shirts. Mable will ask you what you want to do with it. Choose I"I want to display" then either choose "use this" or "swap" swap if you want to trade your design for another one. Use this lets you keep your design and display it.
different design between a shirt and a poster?
well recently i made a t shirt, or what i thought was, design and my friend pointed out that it looks like it looks more like a poster than design rather than a shirt design.
so i was wondering, what do you guys think about what would fit more as a shirt design and/or a poster?
because lately ive been designing stuff(shirts) for my school. also, they would look better as posters but they just make "ok" shirts and i just want tips on how to make better "shirt" concepts sorry if i’m horrible at explaining
Your friend may be full of crapola.
There is no standard for designs distinguishible as appropriate for shirts and those for posters. It may be that some of you tee shirt designs may ALSO make good posters. In which case … GOOD FOR YOU! Good design is good design.
Why do you suppose so many hot looking sports cars are printed on tee shirts. No one is going to point out one of these and say, "That is well designed car. It does not fit as a subject for a tee shirt. It should only remain as a car." Of course, that would be stupid!
If your shirts, in your opinion and that of others, only "look OK" as shirts, then they will probably only look OK as posters, too.
