If I wanted to design a shirt for band at our school what pictures can I use?

I was planning on using stock photos and renders in photoshop, but I don’t know if that is against the law or anything. Am I allowed to find pictures off a website and edit them and put them on the shirt? I would appreciate any answers involving websites that I could use pics from and all of that. Thanks.

Actually, to touch on what Kevin said…100% of the images on the web, and for that matter, 100% of the photos taken are copyrighted. The second you take a photo, you own the copyright to it.

Now, the photographer may allow free use of it, but he still retains the copyright.

With that said on other thing to look at is who is going to print your tshirts. Ask them what format they want the images in. Some may want them in Photoshop layer format, some may accept a jpg, others may want it in TIFF or Illustrator format.

Giving them the image in the format they want can help keep your costs down.

What is a good slogan for a t-shirt that deals with financial aspects?

We are having a promotion at work that is dealing with investments. The theme for the promotion is "do you have your ducks in a row?". I am trying to come up with a t-shirt design that has ducks on it and some kind of catchy slogan. I would like to just have something on the front left chest side of the shirt, and then have something bigger on the back of it. It somehow needs to coincide with the duck theme, and still be catchy.

Well this may be too obvious but it’s just an idea. Maybe on the front a small "cool" rubber ducky with dark sunglasses on and on the back a line of ducks like that. A quote on the back can have something to do with "Get it together" or "We help you get it together," "We get it straight," etc. Or the first duck can be the biggest duck, or a mother duck, and it can have the sunglasses on (or they can all have them). And if you have a group name or something like that you can put it on or near the big duck.

T-shirt design for the novel Great Expectations?

As a project, I have to create a t-shirt design for Charles Dicken’s novel Great Expectations.
I’m completely stumped, because I don’t think there are many pictures that sum up this novel, at least none that are relatively easy to draw. Any ideas?

Maybe just Miss Havisham’s wedding cake or the leg irons.

School club t-shirt design?

Hey! I run a volunteer/community service club at my high school and it’s my job to design a t-shirt for the members. What kind of design would attract teenagers into buying the shirt, especially if they ain’t so spirited?

What qualification do you need to design album art?

I am in completion at the moment for finishing my Media National Diploma after this I am taking a one year Art Foundation Diploma, I shall then progress to University. I love the mix between computer design/drawing and photography. I really want to get into band design, and album art maybe even t-shirt design as well? But which degree would allow me to then progress to my ideal job?

How much should a graphic artist with 2 years experience and with an associates degree in design make hourly?

I have a good portfolio, 2 years experience under my belt, and I have an associates degree in design communications. How much should I be making at a screen printing company. I’m their only designer and work on a variety of ads, web pages, and shirt designs with ZERO complaints. I’m trying to figure out if I’m under paid and how much I should ask for a raise. Thanks!

How do you transfer a design from one t-shirt to another?

Hi there, I’m new here. I was wondering if anyone knows. I have a t-shirt from when I was younger (which no longer fits). But it has a cool design at the front.

I was thinking of getting a new t-shirt, just a plain one. Then altering my old t-shirt, removing the design, and then transferring it by putting it on the new one.

I also don’t care about cutting up the old t-shirt. Has anybody got any ideas? If so, thank you!

hmm i guess dont cut it..
scan the shirt (i guess it works ;p)
and u can print it again in another shirt..
ooor..
u can cut ur old t-shirt and paste the cute design in the new shirt with sewing tools

T-shirt Business?
Im a single 20 year old mom of a one year old. curently Im not working, After taking a year off of highschool ( I had a difficult pregnancy) I am finally graduateing in june. I start college in July im majoring in fashion design. I have a passion for designing things. I love to add things to my shirts and jeans to make them pop. I need a way to make money because I will be going to school full time. I know designing shirts is something I can do And people will buy. Me and my friends buy graphic Tees all the time. But how do I go about starting it? Where will I sell at? How much of an investment would I need? Is it possible to get a small business grant, If so how? What sort of advertisment would I need?

maybe before you start trying to get a loan try making some shirts and if your town has a local fair see how well they do there and also make a few and see if any local stores will carry them for a small profit, b/c they will wnat a little something. I don’t mean a popular store like old navy but maybe a mom and pop clothing store to start.

I sent my design to get a screen made and I got this e-mail back…

Hi Wes,
We received your artwork but all the designs were sent at 72 dpi which is designer pricing. We need art to be at least 300 dpi. A jpeg is always designer pricing also. Multiple colors need to be vectorized so we can color separate it.

Under Document Size, set Resolution to 300 pixels / inch

Image –> Mode
Set it as CMYK Color

File –> Save As
Choose Format: TIFF from the pull-down menu beneath the file name text box
