What size should I make the t-shirt design?
I’m designing a t-shirt for a theater festival my high school is attending, and I don’t know what size to make the Adobe InDesign document.
What is the standard design area? Any type is okay (picas, inches, etc)
Rule of thumb:
Design to the final size. You are working on a computer, what you see in front of you can be no bigger than the size of your monitor, so you may as well scale the document to whatever final size the image is going to be. You can always zoom in and zoom out. If your tee shirt design is going to be ten inches wide and eight inches tall, then that is the size you want it to be designed in. After that, your only concern is the resolution on your final print.
If it is a vector drawing, then resolution doesn’t even apply.
I have a question. Why are you doing this in InDesign? Is it that you only plan to use the vector drawing tools and text layout functions? If so, then you’ll be fine. Just open up a "New" document that is slightly larger than your final design, just as it will appear on the shirt. Then do your layout.
Or, if you plan to create an illustration in another application and PLACE it in InDesign, then the resolution issue will rear it’s ugly head, but not in InDesign, but in whatever app you use to create the illustration. If so, the create the image IN ITS FINAL SIZE. Pick a resolution of at least 150 pixels per inch. (much higher is kind of wasted on a tee shirt. Pixels that are smaller than that tend to get lost in the fabric’s woven texture) Do the design and convert it to CMYK mode. (just to be safe. I don’t know if it’s a multi colored shirt and if it needs to be screen printed. In any case, it couldn’t hurt) Then, it should be ready to place it into the InDesign Document.
Have fun.
Can anyone help me come up with a photography club t-shirt design for my high school?
I’m trying to come up with something original for our photography club t-shirt because the ideas submitted so far are less than glamorous. I would like to draw something on the back and have a quote, but I want something original. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not very creative with ideas! Thanks!
I would love to use our mascot, but unfortunately we have the worst "mascot" possible. I live in Baton Rouge which translates into red stick so our mascot is the red stickers. haha
Make the front the side of the camera you would look through with the peep hole. If you can, try to draw something in the hole.
On the back make the picture of what you would be taking through the peep hole.
where can i design a t-shirt online for free?

Can I submit graphic tee shirt designs anywhere online?
I want to submit some graphic tee designs to some company that would be interested in them online. Does anyone know how I could do this or who I could submit it to??? HELP PLEASE!!!
before you go to on line anyone; visit your local FASHION MERCHANDISING teacher at a community college; and
talk to her-him and the students; it is feasible that they want outlets
for their clothes too.
maybe a local retail store that you both open jointly!??!?
I’m trying to design shirts, and I’m not sure what to use/do, can someone help me?
So both shirts are black and I was thinking of using either:
Fabric Crayons
3-D Paint for fabrics
Iron-ons
Any other suggestions that would make it easier and better?
Like washing the shirt, I wouldn’t want it to fade or come off.
When I do design it though, it will have a few block lettering, along with cursives and a mic on one shirt and a styli/needle on the other.
Help please. Thanks =]
acrylic paint for the solid areas and dimensional paint (3-D) for the lines –I’ve done a lot that way and they came out good–just follow the manufacturer’s instructions for setting the dimensional paint.

How do I asure that my shirt design is protected?
I have a design for a t-shirt with a slogan. How do I assure that my design and slogan is protected (from t-shirt design and logo steeling thieves) before I start to market it?
TheBigFGuy- Thanx. This is the answer I needed.
Do a "Poor man’s Patent". Take photos of the design and FedEx them to yourself. Do not open unless there’s a need to (ie. lawsuit, etc.).
The shipping date of the package shows when you came up with the design and can prove that it was your idea first.
