How or Where to design your own shirt?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin in design your own t shirt | 2 Comments »

is there a place where you can give them a picture or print and they’ll put it onto a tshirt? any additional info?

ty in advance

Cafepress.com

or

a tshirt store in the middle of a mall. They scan your picture and print it on a tshirt.

EDIT: while walking through a mall, you should come encounter with a little stand in the middle of the mall that has pictures on mugs and dog tags and keypads, all that good stuff. They do t-shirts as well.

If you have a walgreens close to you, you can send it online, or you can go into the store. They do it too.

EDIT:
I also saw that you’re getting a Sidekick LX this month, I have one and its amazing. Hope you like it :D

Whats the best way to put your own design on a shirt?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin in design your own shirt | 2 Comments »

I don’t want to send it off because i’d want to be there adjust the design change the shirt color, basicaly do it yourself type.

some people advise those printer papers that you print off the picture you want on a home printer, then iron it onto the shirt. my experience is those crack really easily and they make the design a different texture than the shirt, so don’t use those.

the best way to totally customize a design is to draw it yourself, then screenprint it yourself with some old panythose, a frame, and some screenprinting ink. here’s a guide that i used and it worked really well for me: http://www.threadbanger.com/post/490/diy-screen-printing-how-to
note: use screenprinting ink instead of "fabric ink" like they suggest, it will make the ink go on more smoothly and prevent the non-dyed parts you can see in their final product.

if you’re adventurous you can try painting the shirt. in my experience acrylic paint dabbed on very lightly with the back-end of a paintbrush over and over comes out very nicely. it also allows you a lot more freedom with lines and such. looks a little more diy, but personally i like the effect.

then of course you can send it to cafepress.com, you upload the picture and they put it on a shirt for you. i’ve done this and the quality isn’t that great, and you have to make sure there’s no pure white in your design or it will come out the same color as the background. basically these shirts look like something from a kinda cheap department store.

hope this helps!

How do I design graphics and lettering for t-shirts?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin in design shirts | 2 Comments »

I have some t-shirt ideas that I would like to try and sell on cafepress.com or similar website. The trouble is, I don’t know where to start! Does anyone know of good software for designing graphical designs from scratch? Does anyone already design t-shirts on cafepress and can tell me what you use? Any help is appreciated, I really want to get my ideas out!

You are probably looking for software like Inkscape or Gimp. Both are freeware. Inkscape is a vector program and gimp is like photoshop.

I myself sell shirts on cafepress. I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for my designs. Probably most people sell something at cafepress work with those 4 programs.

If you have a look at my site (it’s in the sources) you can see the what I have worked out with Illustrator and co.

Me and my friends are creating our own designs for shirts/jackets and we would like to know where we can send them in to get them made. But not just like a picture to go on the front of a shirt or letters on the back we have all around designs and stuff too. Any sites or places would be greatly appreciated.
